Grungy Monday 23: Tim in 10

This week at Studio L3 our challenge is to create a greeting card in 10 minutes using at least one Tim Holtz product. You can check them out and get inspired at Tim's website.  The card stock I used (black and very vanilla) is from Stampin Up. The die cuts ( Scaredy Cat and Picket Fence) are from Sizzix- Tim Holtz Alterations. The greeting is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. I have used Ranger Tim Holtx distress inks-  stormy sky and black soot. Archival ink is from Ranger. Stamps are from Tim Holtz(Stampers Anonymous) , Scrolls Work and INKADINKADO. The google eye is from my stash.Yes it took more time to list the supplies than to make the card.
Thanks for the challenge Linda. It is good practice.  Thank you for looking!!

GRUNGY MONDAY 22

Grungy Monday is back and this week Linda is challenging us with a Holtz-ian Halloween. Check out Tim's blog for inspiration. The generous people at Simon Says Stamp are sponsoring this challenge so you really want to check it out.
My tag (TH Alterations-tag and bookplates) started out with a piece of Tim's Halloween paper and his spider web stamp from his SA mini halloween set. I just kept on stamping and embossing that spider web. I added the witch and cat and bat (TH Alterations by Sizzix -Bewitching Hour / Raven and Scaredy Cat). I stamped and embossed more spider webs on top and then added the spider using black Stazon and clear embossing powder. The beware and spider are from Basic Grey and the trick spider are from Tim's paper. Orange ribbon is from my stash.

Work in progress

This week for Grungy Monday #15  Linda has us visiting Tim way back in 2007. You can see what he is up to here. This is a favorite technique of mine. As you see I am still stuck on using darker inks and the dress form stamp. I made my background using Tim's technique with antique linen distress ink. I went over it with vintage photo and after running it through a TH Alteration dressmaker folder I sanded some off and went over it with walnut stain distress ink. The dress form(TH stamp) I stamped over rusty hinge distress ink using a mask for the bodice and embossed. I then stamped stitches(TH stamp) onto the bodice and cut out.  I stained the words with vintage photo and rust and stamped stitching. Word pin is TH that I attached fibres too, and used paper tape measure tied with thread for tag ribbon.
Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show they are asking to see some stitching. There is so much inspiration  at both places. Check it out.
Thank you for looking. I hope you are having fun!

"Papillon"

Grungy Monday has us using paint dabbers and perfect pearls. Go here to see how Tim did it. Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show it is all about flourishes. I used distress inks- vintage photo, faded jeans and antique linen.  I distressed the tag edges with walnut stain. I stamped the flourishes (Stampin Up)  and Papillon (Quietfire Design) with black Archival ink. I colored the butterfly with Perfect Medium and blue Patina Perfect Pearls. Grungy Monday # 11 / Simon Says Stamp and Show

This week at Grungy Monday we are following a Tim technique from 2008. You can see it here. This technique has been a favorite of mine since I began stamping about 20 years ago. SSSS is asking to see our distressed or torn edges. All of my images are from Stampin Up. The sentiment is Tim's. I used rusty hinge, stormy sky, faded jeans and walnut stain distress inks. The tiny tab is cut from Tim's Tiny tabs and tags Die. I mounted my tag on a piece of corrugated packing material. I used a Stampin Up hand distresser and my Zutter Distrez-it-All. My guy is a sailor so maybe I will put this tag on his birthday card.  I hope you are having a Sunny Monday.

Be Creative

Okay maybe this week I can play. The roof is done and I quit my "maid" job. I made this tag while I was supposed to be making Birthday cards. Four of the women on my road (including me) have their birthdays in June.  A lot of Gemini's.   I am entering this in 3 places ; Grungy Monday we are to use distress inks; Simon Says Stamp and Show we are to make a tag ; and Just for Fun has the theme "With my little eye".
I used Tim's fabulous distress inks for my background and for stamping the words and leaves. I used archival black by Ranger for stamping the images. Face by Rubber Stampede, flowers by Stampin Up, Be, Swirl and Bee by See D. Wings and words are Tim Holtz. I used a gold gel pen to outline some of the images and it didn't scan the color it really is. C'est la vie.

Grungy Monday # 7

Over at L3 Studio, Linda has directed us to a fun technique from Tim's Ranger videos. For my tag I used all blue and purple distress inks. The face stamp is from Rubber Stampede. Bliss is from SU. Dragonfly is from Inkadinkado. The frame, crown, flourish and metal flower are Tim Holtz.
My internet has been on the fritz for the last few days so I haven't been around. It seems to be fixed now. I certainly get in a panic if it isn't there. We are having our second day of sunshine today. That has been rare this year. Everything is better when the sun is shining (except the windows). Have a good day.

Grungy Monday # 6

Here is what I made for Grungy Monday #6 where Linda had us using Tim's techniques from his Christmas tag #8 from 2007.   I have used a  Pebble acrylic dabber, weathered wood and walnut stain distress inks and Tim's wood grain embossing folder for my background. I stamped Tim's words onto a piece of  weathered wood paper and cut out with a Spellbinder die. The cage is cut from wood and stained with walnut stain and the bird is grunge board inked with aged mahogany. Flowers were made with stamps from Stampin Up. Leaves were cut using regal crest die. Background leaves were stamped with lettuce acrylic dabber.

It is getting hard to find time for creating and blogging. All the chores seem to come out in the spring. I could use a gardener and a maid. It is still raining every other day and temperatures are below normal but it s great having more daylight hours.

Grungy Monday #3

This week at Studio L3- Linda has us exploring Adirondack Color Washes. I have made a 10"x10" wall hanging (it's mounted on an Ikea frame. I used dried and pressed seaweed as masks - spraying with ink, taking them off and spraying again. I did this twice and then added other colors here and there. The fish stamps are from Scrolls Work Stamps. I embossed them with blue china dep , sprayed lettuce ACW over them and distressed them with black soot distress ink. The shell necklace was a thrift store find. The seaweed and baby crabs are from the beach ( already dried ) The starfish are real too. The rocks are sprayed with stream ACW and some of the shells are painted with expresso alcohol ink. I used some blue perfect pearls on the seaweed. I used Butterscotch, Stream, Denim, Expresso, Sailboat Blue and Meadow Adirondack Color Washes for the background.
I didn't think I would get it finished today but I did and cleaned up the mess too! You will want to see the great samples Linda and her special guest have created and don't forget to visit Tim too!
