Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 33

Well I have finally done the Challenge this week that Linda at Studio L3 chose for us on Monday. I don't know where the time went but there is a lot of colored metal around here. I decided my book wouldn't be complete without the bird cage so that is what I used. I also used the technique on the bird, dragonfly and chain. The background paper is from Webster's Pages.I love this technique and use it often.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas- 2007- #9

Here we are with tag#9 for 2007. This was a pretty easy one as I had all the pieces. It is never too late to join in and you don't need to make the tags with a Christmas theme. If you decide to play, link your tag to "Inkin It Up" where Kathy has a place for us to link up.
They are saying it might snow today and already a few flakes have fallen. This is not normal for February. I hope you have a great weekend and Thank you for looking!

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas- 2007- #8

Here is my tag 8 for my challenge with Kathy Eddy at "Inkin It Up". Had to use a different stamp and for the embellishment I painted a little plastic sled. It is so frosty today that you could probably use a sled. Thank you for looking!

Just For Fun-Week 3

This is for the Just for Fun Challenge - "wings of a bug". It is just an idea that stuck in my head when I looked at these little girl images from Lisa's Altered Art. The background is made from a couple of Webster's Pages. I made the words using an alphabet stamp from Scroll's Work Stamps.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 32

Sadly our amazing journey with Linda at Studio L3 will soon be over. I have had so much fun participating in these challenges - meeting new friends and being inspired by SO much amazing ART! Linda has been the most fantastic leader that you could ever hope for. The sponsors have all been incredibly generous. For week 32 I knew I had to start work on the cover for the album I am making to keep all my samples in. A while ago I found a wooden album that looks like a book (at the thrift store for $1.50). It has a oval glass frame on the front and that is where this piece will be going. I made a foam A to use as a stamp and the A mask from Tim's set. The shape is from his Styled Labels Die. All of the stamps are TH. The letters are from an SU die. The background is a piece of rusted enamel. Too easy but I am happy with how it turned out.

Less is More -Week 2-One Layer Challenge

I found out about this challenge on Meggymay's blog and thought I would give it a go. This week the challenge at Less is More is to use a tree or a flower - one layer-no embellishments. Sometimes simple cards are just what I need. I have used a dandelion stamp from Clear art stamps- wildflowers and a sentiment from Stampin Up. I chose not to add any color.

Postal ATC #1

I thought I would show you the first postal ATC I got from Rhonda. Is this sweet or what! Even the envelope is a work of art. She is very talented. You might want to visit her blog lost in cardland. Lots of inspiration there. In a previous post I showed you the shrine I made to display the ATC's. We hope to send them at least once a month. And even better her and her husband were up for the last 2 days. The guys were busy with rebuilding our dock so we had some undisturbed play time. It is such a treat for me. I will be beaming for days. I hope you have a friend who likes to play with the same toys and you can laugh and create together.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 31

I can't believe it has taken me this long to put a page together for the 31st challenge presented by the wonderful Linda at Studio L3. I have made so many rusted enamel backgrounds this week. It is such a fun technique. I embossed over a map for this one. The car and words are from TH. Sorry I haven't been around to visit my fellow CCCer's . I have been having internet problems. Amazing how disruptive to life that can be.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas- 2007- #7

What a coincidence that CCC and Tag 7 of the 2007 tags of Christmas are both using the rusted enamel technique this week. I love the look and feel you get with this. I have made many backgrounds with it over the last few days and embossing powder seems to have spread everywhere. I did not have Tim's NOEL stamp so I used this one. I ended up using re-inkers for the painting. I couldn't get bright enough shades with the ink pads. The photo corners are from an old album. I sanded them and inked them with black soot. Come visit "Inkin It Up" to see who is playing.

TAKE A WORD #15-Blackbird

I made this for the TAKE A WORD Challenge. I was making something else when I realized this old Cat Stevens song was playing in my head, so I thought I should go for it.

Love tag

I made this for the new just for fun blog where they wanted some Heartfelt wings and for Bella Creations where we had to use a love ticket from a sheet of freebies. The diva stamp is from Lost Coast Designs. The little angel and 24-7 are from SU and all the others are Tim Holtz. I used distress inks - spun sugar, victorian velvet and aged mahogany for the background. I used cranberry alcohol ink on the word frame.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas- 2007- #6

Well we are now half way through 2007 with our Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas. It is difficult to play with Christmas stuff after the season but I will persevere. My tag doesn't look the same as Tim's but I have used the "pearlized distress ink" technique like he did. I like the effect this gives to Christmas tags and cards. Thank you for looking!

Alter it Monthly - February

This is my entry for Alter it Monthly (shrines, nichos, altars and Dream boxes). The shrine was given to me by my good friend Rhonda from lost in cardland. Our intent is to exchange ATC's using the Art of Nick Bantock as our inspiration. It has taken a while to get it going so this challenge was a perfect prompt. I have used alcohol inks and Pigma archival brushes on the metal after wiping it with alcohol - wasn't easy to make the inks stick. I put a transparency over the TH clock . The background for the mail (catslife press) art sign is verdigris ep. I made a love ATC for February using TH stamps. All the other ingredients are from my stash.
Thank you for looking! Sorry for the bad photography.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 30

I can't believe we have had 30 weeks of Tim Holtz fun. This week it is all about the embellishments. I can't share how they were done but go over to Studio L3 to see an array of wonderful examples. You also want to go to Simon Says Stamp and Show to get some loving. I have used a piece of flocking for the background which I embossed with a Sizzix folder. The love tag is Th and all the others are from my stash.
I am still immersed in the task of clearing out the clutter in my craft room and everywhere else in the house I have stashed stuff. It is really amazing how much stuff you can fit in a small space! And how hard it is to throw anything away. There is such a fine line between collecting and hoarding.
