Tim's tags from start to finish- 2008-#6

Yeah we are halfway through our TH Christmas Tags from start to finish for year 2008. Mine is quite different from Tim's this time but I did use his alcohol ink and acetate technique. My images are from a Stampin Up rub ons sheet. The words are printed on cotton. I used distress inks- tumbled glass, stormy sky and broken china; alcohol inks - black, red pepper, cranberry and expresso; and white acrylic paint; and a music background from River City Rubber Works. Check out who is playing at "Inkin it Up".

Today is "April tools Day" where I live. Participants are given limited materials and time to build a boat that they then race. The crowd always hopes for the boats to sink. Good fun!

Ten Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge: Day Three

Todays Ten Times Ten Challenge tag is a steampunk theme that must include a key, 3 arrows and a pointing hand. You must also use some heat embossing and sponging. One element must be metal and one must be cut out by hand. My background is sponged with distress inks and a sea sponge. I ran it through a Cuttlebug gears folder. My light machine and cyclists and lock and ket were cut out by hand. the light filaments were distressed with wild honey di and embossed with clear. Do not disturb was also embossed. The stamps are from 7 gypsies. Arrows are TH. I think this is my first Steampunk tag. I love the theme but haven't had much success with it.
It seems I forgot to read the guidelines before I entered these Challenges and it turns out the Vagabond can only be won from someone in the U.S.A. because of shipping etc. Perfectly understandable. That's okay. Stampin Dymonz told me to stick around for the daily prizes and said she is going to have more challenges when this one finishes. So all you Tim fans should check it out.  And whoo hoo seems I won yesterdays prize! Your kind wishes worked.

Have a super day! Thanks for looking!

Ten Times Ten Grand Giveaway Challenge -Day 2

As you can see I am playing catch up on the Ten Times Ten Grand Give-A-Way Challenge. I am supposed to be doing other things but you know how it goes. Day 2 asked for masking and the theme is bees. I used TH stencil mask, butterfly stamp and words, and distress inks. The tag was also sprayed with perfect pearls- pearl mixed with Ranger color refresher. Come and have a look and all the great tags.

Thank you for all of your kind comments. I may not get to visit you till tomorrow.

Ten Times Ten Grand Give-Away Challenge: Day One

I came across a challenge yesterday at the Stampin Dymonx Creative Space. It is called Tim Times Ten Give-A-Way Challenge. She is offering a VAGABOND as the main prize. How generous is that! I don't own one so I thought I would give it a go. For tag one we were told to make a nostalgic tag that had to include a piece of ripped paper. My TH sentiment is on ripped paper. I have used distress inks, TH stamps , TH flower die, distress embossing powder - walnut stain. The heart and key are from my stash.

Gingersnap Creations 100: Color Challenge- Red and Gold

Here is my entry for the Red and Gold Challenge at Gingersnap Creations. The papers and tokens are from my stash. It is hard to see that my card is all layered but it is. Red and gold are considered lucky. Maybe it will bring me some luck with the weather.
Thank you for looking! Hope you are having an artful end of April.

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Buttons

Button, Button, Who's got the Button? Sorry it's the preschool teacher in me. Simon Says Stamp and Show wants to see Buttons. I love buttons and have quite a few. I have used some old metal ones in this frame that I altered with paints and inks. I used a TH Mini Paper Rosettes die with paper from Paper Pizazz. The background paper is Tim Holtz.

Just For Fun-All Square

For the Just for Fun challenge this week I made some puzzle blocks with 1" wood blocks covering them with Webster's Pages paper and stamping with postal stamps. I also sanded the edges and distressed with vintage photo. Mine are really a puzzle because I mixed up the order of applying the pages.  I have only displayed 3 sides but you get the idea.

Thank you for looking. I hope you are having a crafty Easter Monday.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2008 #5

I am still hanging in with Kathy's challenge to do Tim's Christmas tags from start to finish. We are now on year 2008 #5. This seemed to be a year of embellishments for the Master. My tag is similar to Tim's but I used different supplies for the embellishing. The background is done with a paint and embossing powder resist technique. My reindeer is stamped and cut out of grunge paper and then embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder, then painted and then sanded and then distressed. There is a link at "Inkin It Up" if you want to join in. Alison from Craftytrogs Inky Adventures is making a card and a tag each week. She will be so ready for Christmas.

DRAGONSDREAM TAG IT ON- TIO#75

This tag is for the DRAGONSDREAM TAG IT ON challenge where the theme is" Birds as You Will". I find it hard to resist "bird stamps" and just keep buying them. Here I have used a set from Stampin Up and a few background stamps from TH. The cages are embossed with graphite ep. I used distress inks and archival inks.
It rained so hard here in the night that it woke me up. This morning there was slush on the ground so it must have hailed or snowed. The birds don't seem to mind how cold it is - but I do. We have had a few sunny afternoons but it is starting to feel like Spring got lost somewhere.
I hope it is warmer at your house. Thanks for looking!

My first " configuration box"

51/2" by 51/2" configuration box
close up

I have had this configuration box around awhile and finally I did something with it. What fun these boxes are to play with. I used Adirondack Color Washes Expresso and Butterscotch on all of the pieces. I then went over it with Ranger Stream re-inker using a variety of brushes and sponges. I stamped over that with TH stamps and Archival Ink. All of the items are from my stash. Most have been altered with paint and/ or alcohol ink.
I am entering this in the Gingersnap Creations - Once in a Blue Moon where I am choosing GC67 -Go 3D. I am also entering it for Simon Says Stamp and Show a Lord Tim of Holtz Technique.

Grungy Monday #4-Texture Fades and Distress

I made this tag to wish you all a Happy Easter and for  Grungy Monday where Linda has us following Tim's inspiration with Texture Fades and Distress. I have used a flourish  Sizzix Alterations folder for the tag and Halloween words embossing folder for the Happy Easter letters. I used victorian velvet distress ink. The letters were embossed and the tag mounted on TH / Ranger  core dinations paper. I tattered the edges and added a bit of snowcap white paint. The ribbon is TH and the image is from my stash. You can check out Tim's video here.

Just For Fun- Stars

Here is my tag for the "Just for Fun" challenge this week which is about stars. I used a Cornish Heritage Farms star background stamp that I stamped with Pearl Ex inference violet mixed with bleach and water onto dark blue paper. I then stamped the same background again with versamark and embossed with graphite embossing powder. I then stamped it with Versamagic chalk white and then sprayed it with silver glitter spray. After I cut out the tag with TH die I went over it with black soot. The star line is a TH stamp, the words are by Elusive images and I don't know who made the face stamp. The star is from my stash and the fingerprint is from when I went to scan the tag. I am glad it was Just for fun.

December tags start to finish

Here we are on week 4 of 2008 with our Tim Holtz tag. You can see Tim's here. I have used a picture of my husband with his sister. Rumor has it she told Santa he was very naughty and shouldn't get anything. I have left off some of Tim's embellishing and mine is printed on canvas but not the sticky back kind. If you want to play along link up to Kathy's blog so we can come see.

I have used Tim Holtz Distress Powders for the centre square ( broken china, old paper, black soot and weathered wood) The background is done with Stampington stamps and distress inks ( broken china, old paper, antique linen, old paper and walnut stain). I used a Spellbinders square to mount the centre.

Grungy Monday #3

This week at Studio L3- Linda has us exploring Adirondack Color Washes. I have made a 10"x10" wall hanging (it's mounted on an Ikea frame. I used dried and pressed seaweed as masks - spraying with ink, taking them off and spraying again. I did this twice and then added other colors here and there. The fish stamps are from Scrolls Work Stamps. I embossed them with blue china dep , sprayed lettuce ACW over them and distressed them with black soot distress ink. The shell necklace was a thrift store find. The seaweed and baby crabs are from the beach ( already dried ) The starfish are real too. The rocks are sprayed with stream ACW and some of the shells are painted with expresso alcohol ink. I used some blue perfect pearls on the seaweed. I used Butterscotch, Stream, Denim, Expresso, Sailboat Blue and Meadow Adirondack Color Washes for the background.
I didn't think I would get it finished today but I did and cleaned up the mess too! You will want to see the great samples Linda and her special guest have created and don't forget to visit Tim too!

Just For Fun- Circles

I made this for the Just for Fun Challenge blog for the "Circles" theme. A friend gave me a "twirly" card several years ago and I copied the pattern from that. When you pull on the ribbon it reveals the inside. The hummingbirds usually show up here with the first signs of Spring. I used a scalloped circle die and circle die from Stampin Up. The stamps on the front are Tim Holtz  and the the inside circle stamps are Stampin Up. I used distress inks and a bit of gold inference (Jacquard) for stamping and coloring.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2008 #3

Here is my tag#3 for 2008 on the Tim Holtz Christmas tags from start to finish. I didn't have the Santa that Tim  used or a large circular fragment so I went for a Santa stamp from Clear Art Stamps. The flourish, frame and script are from TH. Not sure who made the believe stamp. I have used antique linen, frayed burlap, aged mahogany and peeled paint distress inks. Kathy has a link if you want to join in.
My internet wouldn't work this morning which put me in total panic mode. I think I am addicted.
Thank you for looking. This is a long journey.

The new Chestnut Theme Challenge at Gingersnap Creations is Geishas. I don't do many Asian cards but I thought I would give this a go. The Beautiful stamp is from Stampin Up. All the rest is from my stash and has been there so long that I have no idea where I got it.

Grungy Monday #2

For week 2 of Grungy Monday we are visiting Rangerink.com to learn all about using distress inks with Studio Multi-Medium. Tim Holtz will show us the way in an easy to follow video. Linda has 2 new guest designers to inspire us at Studio L3. I have used the multi-medium with the tattered florals die to create my going green background. I used distress inks-black soot, bundled sage, crushed olive, shabby shutters, forest moss and peeled paint. Images are from Graphic 45 and Artchix. I used a SU punch on the bottom. Music paper and brads are from my stash.  I hope you will join in this fun challenge.

Drunken Stampers Challenge #61- Are you sponge worthy?

The Drunken Stampers are challenging us to create a sponged background this week. I made a double pocket card embossed in a Cuttlebug -Happy Birthday folder. The background was sponged before and after embossing with Stampin Up inks- Pear Pizzazz / Baja Breeze and Rose Romance. The bookmarks were created with TH stamps and the same sponging but I left more white. The birds were stamped with SU blue distress ink. The flower I made with TH die-tattered florals. My scanner didn't capture the true colors or the sponging on the bookmarks. Sponging is such a fun technique.

December tags start to finish

Here is my tag #2 for 2008 of Tim Holtz Christmas tags. This technique does make a beautiful background. I didn't have rub ons like Tim's or his tag and stamp and had had lot of trouble with finding something that would work. I used white stazon and a Quietfire Designs flourish stamp instead. For the tag I used an SU punch and a Stampington stamp. If you care to join in , link up to "Inkin it Up" so we can come and see.
