Gingersnap Creations Bookmarks Swap

I am done. Your encouragement made it so much easier to push ahead and complete my tag swap bookmarks. Thank you!  I am one of those rare people who has no desire to travel. I do think it is great for other people to go places and tell me all about it. All of the people I know who have visited New York have said the people are so friendly - there is just too many of them.

Gingersnap Creations Bookmarks Swap

In a moment of "Oh sure I can do that", I signed up for a swap at Gingersnap Creations Yahoo group. We have to create 4 unique bookmarks with a Travel the World Theme. Each must have a specific region, city or country as it's focus. This is the first swap I have entered. It has taken me a few days to create these. I only have one more to go.

Commitment seems to bring out the worst in me.Except I have been married for 44years. I get very insecure about my "work" . It is crazymaking at its best. And of course as soon as I think too hard everything goes askew. So simple projects end up taking way more time than they should.  Okay, enough ranting.  I hope you are all just having a carefree time creating!

The 12 tags of Christmas -2008-#9

I am posting my 'Tim's Christmas tags  from start to finish' early this week because I am going away for the weekend.  Remember way back when Kathy Eddy challenged me to complete all of Tim's Christmas tags. We are still at it and the farther away from Christmas it gets the harder it is for me to persist. But I am. Go to Tim's blog to check out his version of this tag. And see out who else is playing at Inkin It Up.

It has been a crazy week for me and I haven't had much time for blogging. Maybe next week will be better. I hope you all  have a great weekend!  Thank you for looking!

Grungy Monday # 7

Over at L3 Studio, Linda has directed us to a fun technique from Tim's Ranger videos. For my tag I used all blue and purple distress inks. The face stamp is from Rubber Stampede. Bliss is from SU. Dragonfly is from Inkadinkado. The frame, crown, flourish and metal flower are Tim Holtz.
My internet has been on the fritz for the last few days so I haven't been around. It seems to be fixed now. I certainly get in a panic if it isn't there. We are having our second day of sunshine today. That has been rare this year. Everything is better when the sun is shining (except the windows). Have a good day.

The 12 tags of Christmas -2008-#8

Here is tag #8 from 2008. It has lots of gold embossing on it which doesn't scan well. I used alcohol ink on gold ribbon for the hangers. My painted ornaments didn't want to crackle so I used Rock Candy crackle paint on a crackle stamp over top and then used distress ink in the cracks after it had dried. Have a look over at "Inkin It Up"  to see some lovely examples.
Thank you for looking! I hope everyone's blog are back to normal.

Just For Fun-Size Matters

My blogging friend Donna from Mexico sent me a maid and a gardener so I got to finish my Just for Fun tag. For this tag we had to use "scraplings". ( those leftover pieces from making cards. I cut my 21/2 inch pieces in half and covered a tag. That size is also perfect for making mini paper rosettes (TH die). I added brads to the center. The scraps and tag are all edged with dusty concord. The rayon ribbon has been sprayed, squished and heated to make it curly. The stamps are from Hampton Art. I stamped with versafine. I colored the wings with water color pencils and coated with Rock Candy distress stickles.
It seems Blogger was making mischief yesterday and disappeared the JFF challenge so I will have to link up later.

Grungy Monday # 6

Here is what I made for Grungy Monday #6 where Linda had us using Tim's techniques from his Christmas tag #8 from 2007.   I have used a  Pebble acrylic dabber, weathered wood and walnut stain distress inks and Tim's wood grain embossing folder for my background. I stamped Tim's words onto a piece of  weathered wood paper and cut out with a Spellbinder die. The cage is cut from wood and stained with walnut stain and the bird is grunge board inked with aged mahogany. Flowers were made with stamps from Stampin Up. Leaves were cut using regal crest die. Background leaves were stamped with lettuce acrylic dabber.

It is getting hard to find time for creating and blogging. All the chores seem to come out in the spring. I could use a gardener and a maid. It is still raining every other day and temperatures are below normal but it s great having more daylight hours.

Grungy Monday #4-A New Dimension

Can you believe we have had 2 weeks for the Grungy Monday challenge and I am just getting to it now. I loved Tim's idea with the piece of railway tie. I hoped I would find something like that I would be inspired by but it didn't happen so I went with paper and elements I love. I did pick up some watches at the thrift store so that helped. I am not finished with this piece yet but decided to put it away for today after not noticing I had cut my finger and getting blood on it and then  gluing the back on backwards. It is usually when I am trying to be very careful that stuff like that happens. I have used Graphic 45 Steampunk paper , TH embellishments, rusty hinge distress ink, vintage photo distress stain and copper tape.

Thank you for looking! Happy Mother's Day!

The Color Purple

The color purple is a favorite of mine and it also happens to be Challenge #77 over at DRAGONSDREAM  TAG IT ON. I also wanted to make something for the Just for Fun Challenge where we are to make inchies. My background is made using TH stamps and dusty concord distress ink. My crows and sentiment are stamped with Stazon Royal Purple. The flowers have been cut from textured papers with a Stampin Up Die. Lace paper, ribbons, button and dragonflies are all from my stash.
Thank you for looking! I hope you are getting inky today.

TH Christmas tags from Start to Finish - 2008 # 7

Here we are at tag 7 for 2008. I used the TH snowman die but I love the snowman that Tim used. I also used a different recipe for my snow. It worked well. Stuck to everything. The background is made with distress inks that you mist after you have blended your colors (my favorite technique). I used a Th snowflake stamp and the rest is from my stash. Thank you for looking. You can go to " Inkin It Up" to check out more examples.

Tim Times Ten Grand Giveaway Challenge -Day 8

The challenge for us today over at  Stampin' Dymonz Creative Space is to make a distressed tag using at least 3 colors, a sentiment stamped in more than one color, a stamped image and a unique ribbon or embellishment. I  was thinking about my neighbors who are flying off to Paris for 2 months, when I made this tag. I want to make some kind of album for her to fill when she gets back. I have used victorian velvet, aged mahogany, walnut stain and fired brick distress inks. Most images are done with jet black archival ink. All of the stamps are Tim Holtz. I dyed and curled the ribbon.

Tim Times Ten Grand Giveaway Challenge -Day 7

For Challenge # 7 over at Stampin Dymonz Creative Space we are creating an acetate tag with a wintry feeling. The recycled acetate must be dry embossed and inked. The tag must be 2 layers, include an image and we must use some type of dimensional product to embellish. My image is from Art Impression which I stamped on black card stock and then painted over with white acrylic - wiping off the paint from the embossing after it had mostly dried. I dry embossed part of the tag with the TH snowflake folder.I decorated my snowman with distress stickles. I made a concoction of dry snow, glue. and Ranger lace stickles and spread it sparingly on the tag and on the embossed snowflakes (TH folder) of the acetate. I added some blue with a permanent marker. I sprayed the acetate with glimmer mist (Delta). I applied rock candy stickles to the card stock as well. Well by then I knew it was time to stop. I glued it together, added some ribbon and stamped the message (SU)on top  and edged with white acrylic paint. The scan doesn't show how sparkly it is.
I am glad it isn't snowing here.  Thank you for looking!

Ten Times Ten Grand Giveaway Challenge -Day 6

Today's challenge at Stampin Dymonz Creative Space asks us to make a gift card holder tag. It must have a pocket with at least 2 of it's corners punched. It also must include 3 handmade flowers, a sentiment and the background must be created using ink. I have used stamps from Red Lead and Stampin Up. My corner punch is from Fiskars and oval punch is Stampin Up. My flowers are embossed 3 times and cut out. I have used archival ink and distress inks - stormy sky, antique linen and black soot.

Ten Times Ten Grand Giveaway Challenge -Day 5

Well I missed yesterday's challenge but have done today's. For the 10x 10 Challenge #5 we needed to create a Card Tag. On it we have to include an image we have colored with Copics or markers and then mount it on sanded cardstock. I have used Stampin Up markers - pale plum, so saffron, mellow moss and going grey. My image is from PSX. Thinking of You is from River City Rubber Works. It is mounted on TH coredinations paper.I used TH Alterations Tag and Bookplates die to cut my card. I love using water color pencils for coloring images but find markers a lot trickier.
