GCSP08:Recipe-3 Words,3 Papers and 3 Buttons

It is "Once in a Blue Moon" time at Gingersnap Creations. This time they have given us a recipe to follow: 3 words, 3 papers and 3 buttons. I have used TH kraft resist paper, corrugated paper - front and back and black card stock. I stamped (Scrap Block music) and embossed in black the second layer. My words are from Red Lead, the flower is from Webster's Pages and the cage is cut with a TH die from paper embossed with walnut stain embossing powder. I used Versafine black ink  and faded jeans distress ink. This is going to be a cover for a flip book.

Thank you for looking. I hope you are having a creative day.

GC103: Random Redhead Challenge- Bags and Tags

I am such a bird brain and I should be because I have so many bird stamps. I made this for the Gingersnaps Random Redhead Challenge. I took apart a Starbucks bag and covered it with polka dot papers (My Mind's Eye). Before putting it back together I stamped it with birds and cages and feathers and eggs, etc. I made the tag with my TH tag die. I used a Stampin Up punch for the bird and foliage. I used stamps from Stampington, Tim Holtz, Hampton Art, and Stampin Up. The colors look quite different than what is showing.

Hummingbird Update: All is well so far. We haven't been able to get a photo of the two babies yet. They need to have their heads up for that. The first day we had a scare because the mother was never at the nest when we checked. I went to bed thinking of how I could care for 2 baby hummingbirds. When I got up the next day - she was back in the nest. It seems they spend all their time gathering food and away from the nest.

Grungy Monday # 13

Here is my tag for Grungy Monday #13 where Linda has us playing with Adirondack Alcohol Inks. Follow this link to watch Tim's excellent video. I have used a piece of gold paper for my tag and a piece of acetate; both have been embossed with  Sizzix (TH Alterations) clocks folder. I used expresso. stream, pesto, rust and black Adirondack inks and blending solution. On the inside of the acetate I used antique gold perfect pearls mixed with water. All of the metal pieces have been inked with alcohol inks. The words I stamped with Archival ink are from Scrolls Work.

The Chestnut Theme Challenge at Gingersnaps is "At the Mall". So the way I see it is you go when there is a BIG SALE and you take a credit card (preferably your husband's). I used the packaging from some Melissa Frances embellishments to create my mall on. The rest of the images are from my stash. I used a Old Island Stamp Company flourish and Melissa Frances bling.

Here we are at tag #2 of 2009. I embossed and inked my tag following the Master's lead. (You can see Tim's here). And then I decided this tag needed something more so I added a moose.  I hope you like him. You will find other samples at "Inkin it Up".

No Steam Tag

Here is my tag for Grungy Monday #12  And Just For Fun. I have followed Tim's technique to make the background. I used TH dies- Tag and Bookplates and Gadget Gears; TH stamps- bicycle and fate and hand; images from my stash; dymo words (Thanks Rhonda) ; TH embellishments and distress inks.  I am kind of feeling like "all punk- no steam". Playing lots- completing little.

Amazing Discovery

For the last few days when I have walked the path I use to go to the store, a humming bird has come flying out of this tree. Today I looked real hard and found the nest. It is built close to the end of the branch and is made of lichen.  It is about the size of half a tennis ball.  This hummingbird feeds at our feeder and in the garden. She has been around for a few months and chases any other hummingbirds away.  I hope this story gets a happy ending because there are 3 cats living nearby. I will keep you posted. Thanks for looking!

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2009 #1

For the first tag of 2009, tim has us using crackle paint and distress stickles. I don't have his snowman stamp so I used a snowman die and did it in the reverse of his - white embossing powder and black paint. Go here to see Tim's. Go here to see who is still playing in Kathy's challenge.

Grungy Monday # 11 / Simon Says Stamp and Show

This week at Grungy Monday we are following a Tim technique from 2008. You can see it here. This technique has been a favorite of mine since I began stamping about 20 years ago. SSSS is asking to see our distressed or torn edges. All of my images are from Stampin Up. The sentiment is Tim's. I used rusty hinge, stormy sky, faded jeans and walnut stain distress inks. The tiny tab is cut from Tim's Tiny tabs and tags Die. I mounted my tag on a piece of corrugated packing material. I used a Stampin Up hand distresser and my Zutter Distrez-it-All. My guy is a sailor so maybe I will put this tag on his birthday card.  I hope you are having a Sunny Monday.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2008 #12

Here we go with the last tag for 2008 in our Christmas tag Adventure. I had every intention of making lots of tags and cards and being so prepared for Christmas 2011. It looks like I will be doing my usual frantic last minute production line again. Oh well at least I will have all of Tim's tags completed.
Check them out at Kathy's blog. To see all of the Christmas tags go to Tim's blog.

DRAGONSDREAM TAG IT ON- #82

The theme at DragonsDream this week is " winged things". I used a long grass stamp from Stampin Up. I embossed it with clear ep. and then ironed it after inking with Tim Holtz distress inks stormy sky and faded jeans. The dragonfly stamp is from Stamp It!. The Poem is a new one I got from Scrolls Work. The ribbon is from my stash. I colored the dragonfly and coated it with Ranger Matte Accents.
I never did get to the garden today. One thing led to another and you know how it goes. Before you know it the day is done. Thank you for looking!

Craft-Room- Challenge #1

Here is a birthday card I made for my neighbour who is a retired Home-Ec teacher. I have used paper and lace, ribbon and buttons and a bit of leather. The stamps are from Crafty Secrets and Stampin Up. I used a Tim Holtz tattered floral die and distress inks for making the flower. The theme at the Craft-Room for their first challenge is anything goes so that is where this card is going.

Be Creative

Okay maybe this week I can play. The roof is done and I quit my "maid" job. I made this tag while I was supposed to be making Birthday cards. Four of the women on my road (including me) have their birthdays in June.  A lot of Gemini's.   I am entering this in 3 places ; Grungy Monday we are to use distress inks; Simon Says Stamp and Show we are to make a tag ; and Just for Fun has the theme "With my little eye".
I used Tim's fabulous distress inks for my background and for stamping the words and leaves. I used archival black by Ranger for stamping the images. Face by Rubber Stampede, flowers by Stampin Up, Be, Swirl and Bee by See D. Wings and words are Tim Holtz. I used a gold gel pen to outline some of the images and it didn't scan the color it really is. C'est la vie.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2008 #11

Only one more to go for 2008. I cheated with this one- using fragments I had already made. It is a simple one compared to many of the Christmas tags. I wish I had one of those splatter brushes. I have been using an old electric toothbrush. It works but not as good. Go to "Inkin' it Up" to see more.

Remember that leaky roof I told you about. Well it is finally getting replaced. Rick and some friends are doing it and I get to be the maid. I was even up there pulling the old nails yesterday and I have a big blister to prove it. Note to self - wear gloves when using a crowbar. We are finally getting some sunshine and warmer weather, at least for a few days. I will be happy when it is all done.
