Drunken Stampers - Challenge #60- All About Him

Over at Drunken Stampers they are asking for us to show some manly creativity and this is what I have come up with. There are not to many guys who don't enjoy a beer or two. I used Innovative Stamp creations "By the bay" and Stampin Up "wish Big" stamps on a advertisement and embossed in black. The mug of beer is cut from same advertisement. I found the bottle cap somewhere. I used distress inks misted with water for the background.

Thank you for looking. Cheers!

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2008 #1

A new year and a new set of Tim's tags. Here is #1 for 2008 where the agenda is masking. I got a little bit carried away with my Distress-it-all for the edges. I like the vintage feel of this tag. Kathy has a link set up at "Inkin it Up" so it is easy to join in the fun.

Gingersnap Creations: GC96: Third Annual Copper, Ginger or Rust

When I saw what this  GC Challenge was about, it prompted me to finish this little altered box I was making for a friend. It used to be wood and aluminum. I was definitely in play mode so I can't tell you how I made it but I can say what I used ; alcohol inks -stream, rust, pesto, copper / pearl ex powders- super bronze and copper sparkle / Perfect Paper adhesive - TH -music stamp/ grid stamp by Saltspring Stamp Co./ The quote is a daisyd's overlay,  Sookwang sheet and Glitter Ritz Crystal Clear and Bronze (top) The inside paper is from Stampington, Bliss is from SU and the image is from Itkupilli. I also used copper foil tape and a Krylon Copper pen.
I am also going to enter this in the Simon Says Stamp and Show. The word being "dance". And now I have a BIG mess to clean up. Have a great day!

Here is my entry for The Spicy Supply Challenge at Gingersnap Creations. I think you will be seeing me use my Artful Dwellings Die quite often for the next while. I have used TH crowded attic paper, tissue tape and distress inks  to create my home office. The photo color is showing much lighter than the actual piece.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2010 -Day 12

Oh yeah we have completed a whole year in the Tim Holtz Christmas tags from start to finish. This one is all about fragments.  I like fragments but wouldn't usually put so many on one tag.  Link up to Kathy's blog "Inkin it Up" if you decide to join in so we can come and admire your work. You only need to use the technique. All the rest is up to you.
I had to go to the big city for a few days so I am way behind on posting and blogging.  Hopefully I can play catch up today.
Thank you for looking! Hope you got to see the "super moon". It was amazing!

I got an Award!

I was shocked and honored today by being given this award from Brenda at Bumblebees and Butterflies. I met Brenda through the CC Challenges. She creates wonderful Art. I am very inspired by her use of colors. By accepting this award I agree to thank Brenda and link back to her and then
Share 7 things about myself :
 1.   I was born in Vancouver B.C. Canada on June 21.1949. ( You do the math)
 2.   I have 2 adult children. I live with my husband of almost 44 years in a small Community near the water.
 3.   I love being retired and having lots of "play" time.
 4.  I have been making things since forever. I have tried my hand at quilting, spinning and weaving, working with clay, making paper, building rock walls, making cement tiles etc.
5.I have a big flower garden full of irises and lavender and as many purple plants that I can find.
 6. I like rock and roll and blues and a bit of country music.
 7. Blogging connects me to other like-minded people. I am amazed and inspired by the amount of talent " out there."

And now the hard part-  I am to pass this award on to 7 recently discovered blogs. I love all my blogging friends and don't like to pick but I do have a few recent followers who might like an award. I have also included Kathy and Alison because they deserve an award for participating in the TH tags from start to finish. The final part is to let these people know about their award and away I go to do that.

Birthday card

I thought I would show you a birthday card I have been making. It isn't very noticeable on the card but when I took the picture it shows how a bit of the red ink ran when I glued it on. I will be "embracing imperfection" with this one. It has to be mailed today. I have cut up different Webster's Pages and glued them on to a stamped background. The happy birthday is covered with a fragment and popped up. The stamps are from SU and Clearartstamps.I used gold glitter for the flames and rock candy stickles on the glass rims.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2010 -Day 11

Here we are on the 11th tag of 2007. This tag is all about distress crackle paint and distress embossing powders. I don't own the stamps or the colors of embossing powders so I improvised. The stamps I used for the wreath are from Stampington. I like the subtle look of this tag but I think it would work better on a different background. It is never to late to join in. Just link up to Kathy's blog so we can visit.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 35

Yahoo! I did it. Start to finish. Thirty five weeks of fun with Linda and Tim Holtz. I am not very good at finishing things so this is a huge accomplishment for me.
For week 35 our task was "design details". I used this one to finish the cover. I had to cut the heads off the brads and paint them because I didn't have enough in the right color and the wood around the edge wasn't deep enough to drill. I used TH papers. and embellishments with the exception of a few from my stash.

For the pages I cut all of the edges in the "bracket" pattern and mounted all of my pages on them. I added technique titles to each page.

Thank you to Linda for leading us in this fun journey! Thank you to all the great sponsors.  And a really big Thank you to all of the people who have taken the time to leave comments on my work. It has meant so much to me!!  I know it sounds like a speech but I need to say these things.

Gingersnap Creations - Color Challenge 92

The Color Challenge at Gingersnap Creations involved using jewel colors plus gold. I have embossed the frame with gold ep  on Mulberry paper and then used Ranger Adirondack sprays  Sailboat blue, Meadow and Cranberry. Did the same for the words. The bird was embossed 3 times and then crackled. The stamps are from Stampin Up.     Thank you for looking!

Gingersnap Creations -Chestnut Theme Challenge-Get to Work

When I read about the "Get to Work" challenge at Gingersnap Creations this song popped into my head.  It didn't go away so I went with it. I borrowed the TV picture from the web and all of the others are from my stash. I hope some of you know the song.   Thank you for looking!

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2010 -Day 10

Here we are at tag 10 from 2007 for Tim's Christmas tags. This one uses paint over clear embossing powder. An easy technique suitable for any theme. I used some velvet flocked letters for WINTER and a few bells and a metal snowflake. My snowman is from Art Impressions. I will be linked to Kathy Eddy's blog Inkin it Up if you want to join in.

Alter It Monthly - March

The theme for March at Alter It Monthly is TIME. I have made this wall hanging using an old advertisement poster. It is backed on photo board. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder, time and cog pieces from Tim Holtz, distress inks- black, walnut stain and frayed burlap, black acrylic paint, and a few nuts from my stash. The stamps I used were from Scroll's Work, Stamping Up and Tim Holtz. I think that is all. This was a fun project.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge- week 34

Can you believe we are almost at the end of this creative journey (and ready to start a new one of course).I decided to make a commemorative collage of different techniques I have used with the addition of our amazing Linda ( I asked her permission first). It will be a fun piece for me to have in my book. The first fragment I made ended in disaster when the paper came off the glue on my fingers and then the ink bled. I liked it better but that's how it goes sometimes. Make sure you go visit Studio L3. There are some amazing fragments over there.
