Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2009 #7
Here is tag #7 of 2009 of completing all of the Tim Holtz Christmas tags. Tim has us making masks with our stamps for this one. I use this technique lots. It is a great way to highlight an image. You can see Tim's here. I used a Santa from Clear Art Stamps. Music background is from River City Rubber Works. The snowflakes and flourish are Tim Holtz. I didn't have any green stickles or glitter so I added lettuce Adirondack ink (Ranger) to some blue I had and it worked great. See more tag 7 examples at "Inkin It Up".
Thank you for looking. Have a great weekend!

Gingersnap Creations -Chestnut Theme Challenge- On the Road
This is my creation for the Gingersnap Creations "On the Road" challenge. I knew I wanted to use this photo of Rick's grandfather and grand uncle taken in 1909. I am not so sure about the final product though. I softened the edges in I Photo. The images are from the internet and my stash. I used a metal button and brad for the wheel. Thank you for looking!

Just For Fun- Precious Metal
I made this for the challenge at Just for Fun where we are to use metal. I bought a piece of metal at the Reuse store for $1.00. Rick said it would be too thick for my Big Shot (I wouldn't use a die you like with that). When I cut it out I could tell it was just a bit thicker than ideal but I just passed it through 3 times and got my die cuts (See I told you it wasn't too thick). Don't you just hate it when they are even a little bit right. I don't think I damaged anything so all is well. I painted my precious metal (it is now) with some paint I also bought there -Debby Travis hammered metal metallic paint. I painted over the bird with blue acrylic painted and stamped script on it. The crown is TH grunge board painted with Ranger silver dabber. I put alcohol inks on the cage but I didn't like how it looked so I took it off. I used a bit of black paint to age it . The beads and butterfly were from my stash.
Thank you for looking! Have Fun.

Gingersnap Creations 111: Random Redhead-Planes and Trains
When I made this tag for the Random Redhead Challenge at Gingersnap Creations I was thinking it was Plane, Trains and Automobiles so that is what I did. I seem to get confused easily these days. I made the background with versamark and then embossed parts of it. I used stamps from Scrolls Work and The Artistic Traveller. I then inked with TH distress inks- antique linen, vintage photo and walnut stain. The images and metal bits are from my stash.
Thank you for looking! Happy Sunday.

Tim Holtz - 12 tags of Christmas 2009 #6
For the 6th tag of 2009 Tim shows us a clever trick with dictionary paper. You can see it here. As you see I have used a small tree for mine which isn't as effective but it will fit in the Christmas tag holder I am using. My supplies (stamps, inks,25) are all from Tim's collections except the key which is Making Memories. I am linking this up with Alison's blog because she is away but has made a fantastic tag and card for this challenge which you should see. I am also linking with Kathy who has made a wonderful tag as well.
I hope you are having a great weekend and the sun is shining wherever you are! Thanks for looking!

This month Gingersnap Creations is saluting Machines and as part of that their Spicy Supply Challenge asks us to use Gears, cogs and watch bits. I have used Hampton Art stamps on glassine paper(Tim Holtz). The frame is Graphic 45 core'dinations. The watch pieces and cogs and gears are also Tim Holtz.I have also used a Cuttlebug Gears embossing folder for the background.
We had a power blurp this morning which seems to have killed our stove. So now I get to go stove shopping instead of crafting today. Yuk. Thanks for looking!

Just For Fun- Groovy Corrugations
I had to get a piece in for the Just For Fun challenge of using corrugated paper. I am not really here blogging. I am actually making dinner for a bunch of people. Don't tell. I used 2 types of corrugated paper , some brown paper, acrylic paints, walnut ink made with crystals. I don't remember who made the stamps. I also used a grunge board number and a bird nest charm which I grunged up with crackle paint.
Have a great week and Thank you for looking!

Christmas tags Start to finish
For the 5th tag of 2009 Tim has us making Christmas fragments. Rather than stamping I used some Graphic 45 paper for the fragment and I used Webster's Pages paper for my tag. Flourishes (TH stamp) are stamped with gold paint (Tsukineo). I also used vintage photo distress ink and fired brick distress stickles(Ranger), glitter pens, gold metal tape, gold wire, and rayon ribbon. Go over to "Inkin' It Up" to see more examples of this tag. We only have 7 more tags to make.
Thank you for looking!

Work in progress
This week for Grungy Monday #15 Linda has us visiting Tim way back in 2007. You can see what he is up to here. This is a favorite technique of mine. As you see I am still stuck on using darker inks and the dress form stamp. I made my background using Tim's technique with antique linen distress ink. I went over it with vintage photo and after running it through a TH Alteration dressmaker folder I sanded some off and went over it with walnut stain distress ink. The dress form(TH stamp) I stamped over rusty hinge distress ink using a mask for the bodice and embossed. I then stamped stitches(TH stamp) onto the bodice and cut out. I stained the words with vintage photo and rust and stamped stitching. Word pin is TH that I attached fibres too, and used paper tape measure tied with thread for tag ribbon.
Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show they are asking to see some stitching. There is so much inspiration at both places. Check it out.
Thank you for looking. I hope you are having fun!

Just for Fun- Material Girls week 1
At Just for Fun this week they are asking us to use acrylic or plastic. I hope acetate is considered plastic because that is what I used. I used it on the background to create space to stamp my new Hampton Art stamp. The moving forward stamp is from The Artistic Traveller. I ran a piece of acetate through a Cuttlebug gears folder which I laid over top after highlighting the raised parts on the back with Tsukineko gold ink. You can hardly see it in my scan. I also used old paper, walnut stain, rusty hinge black soot and antique linen distress inks. Images were stamped with Archival ink.
Thank you for looking. Happy Sunday.

Hummingbird tale
When I went to check on the babies today, one of them was perched on the edge of the nest. I came back and took a couple of pictures. After I took this picture they both flew away. They didn't seem to have any problems with flying and there chance of surviving is so much better now. A happy tale I think.

Gingersnap Creations: GC 106: Spicy Supply -packaging materials
This is my entry for Gingersnap Creations challenge to use packaging materials. I started with a piece of Prima packaging and added black corrugated cardboard on top. The main piece is brown cardboard inked with Colorbox chalk- lime pastel. The lace (Art Impressions) and dress form (Tim Holtz) were embossed with clear ep and swirls (Stampin Up) stamped over with black archival ink. I then ironed off the ep and stamped the dress form slightly off the original. I stamped a TH swirl stamp on the bodice. I cut the buttons from a velvet box liner using a Sizzix die. The bella label came off a package. The flower petals were cut with Sizzix Die-Daisy's #2 from painted deli paper and corrugated cardboard. The centre button was inked with versamark and then partially inked with archival black. I really like how this turned out. I am also going to join in on the Just for Fun Challenge- Anything Goes.
Thank you for looking. For those of you following the hummingbird tale I posted another baby picture. It is two posts down. They are growing fast.

"Papillon"
Grungy Monday has us using paint dabbers and perfect pearls. Go here to see how Tim did it. Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show it is all about flourishes. I used Tim's butterflies and moths stamp with white acrylic paint for my background. I used perfect pearls heirloom gold, blue patina and bronze. I used distress inks- vintage photo, faded jeans and antique linen. I distressed the tag edges with walnut stain. I stamped the flourishes (Stampin Up) and Papillon (Quietfire Design) with black Archival ink. I colored the butterfly with Perfect Medium and blue Patina Perfect Pearls. The bling was dyed with Adirondack black alcohol ink and h.gold p.p.painted over it. The corners are TH ideology.
Thank you for looking!
Growing fast!
The babies are growing fast. They are so sweet. It is pretty crowded in that nest.
Happy 4th of July to my friends in the U.S.A. I hope you are having a great holiday.
